About us!

Hardbarka Design mainly consists of me, Robert Torrissen.

My knitting adventure, and what is today known as "Hardbarka Design," began as a pastime in 2018 when my son Casper Johan was born. Casper was very ill and needed either me or Marie (his mom and my wife) to be present around the clock. This meant that my hobbies, which mostly involved activities outside the house, had to be put on hold. It would be a lie to say that knitting came naturally, but since Marie knitted, that's how it ended up.

Casper passed away in his mother's arms at the age of eight months. In the book "Hardbarka Strikk," you can read Casper's full story.

After Casper's funeral, I intended to resume my old hobbies, but I never quite got back into them. It was knitting that would occupy my time. Slowly but surely, I started creating my own designs and thoroughly enjoyed everything that came with being a male knitter. Then it snowballed with a knitting book, lectures, knitting festivals, collaborations, and so on.

Today, I work at sea as a "poor man's first mate." In my free time, I am primarily a dad to 4 lovely girls. I am married to Marie, the backbone of the family. And occasionally, I am the man who knits and designs garments!

My ambitions are not grand. But one day, knitting will make me a millionaire!
